A, A, A, A, A, B, B, B, B, B is a photograph making mechanism.

Each of the suspended bottles contains a different chemical that when both are mixed forms cyanotype solution. One bottle contains Solution A and the other solution B. Where the chemicals mix on the paper stock will become photosensitive and expose to UV light, while where the chemicals land but don’t mix they will remain their individual non photosensitive solutions.

The bottles are activated by servos that are triggered by motion sensors that detect visitors presence in the gallery. The bottles are triggered by separate motion sensors, with each sensor detecting gallery visitors presence in a different space in the gallery. The resulting photograph it a record of all the visitors that have been present in the gallery space throughout the duration of the show.

The photograph above is of the mechanism install in the exhibition Interventions and Interruptions at Photofusion, London.
